The Archaeological Collection of the Mayborn Museum Complex contains over 16,000 objects, at least half of which were collected in Texas. Many other pieces originate in Mexico and Central America. Objects include tools made of stone, bone and ivory; clay pottery; and a large number of stone projectile points (arrow, dart, and spear points). This department includes a number of named collections, such as the H. Grady Moore Collection. The Moore Collection contains more than 680 objects collected in Texas and donated to the then Baylor University Museum in 1940 in exchange for Mr. Moore's daughter's college tuition. The Frank H. Watt Collection contains thousands of objects collected in Central Texas, including the unusual Waco sinker.
