Specimens, many preserved as study skins and taxidermy mounts, are appropriately stored for their long-term preservation while also being available for research and exhibition.
A majority of the museum’s most recent acquisitions consist of salvaged specimens from the central Texas area. These include specimens in good condition found along roadways and deceased specimens from rehabilitators. This passive method of collecting reduces the impact on our natural resources.
