The Mayborn Museum Collection contains 3852 cataloged rock and mineral specimens. The collection includes specimens from each of the United States with the exception of Florida, Louisiana, and Mississippi. Many of these specimens were received from the United States Geological Survey and the United States National Museum (now the National Museum of Natural History) in 1902.
The Walter T. Huang Collection contains 349 catalogued specimens which were donated by Dr. Huang between 1969 and 1981. Dr. Huang studied in the Geology Department of Baylor University from 1958 to 1970. During this time he acquired his collection while traveling to Czechoslovakia and Korea and by trading with other scientists around the world.
