Mayborn to host Free Community Day on Martin Luther King Jr. Day

January 7, 2026
Mayborn Museum Building Entrance with Mammoths

Community Days at the Mayborn Museum offer families and visitors the chance to experience everything the museum has to offer with free admission. These special days invite the community to explore the Discovery Center, Natural History Hall, and Historic Village while enjoying hands-on learning, interactive exhibits, and shared moments of curiosity.

There is no shortage of experiences to discover. Build, test, and imagine in the popular Castle Builder exhibit, where engineering and creativity come together through play. Explore physics in action in the museum’s new Simple Machines room, designed to help visitors of all ages experiment with forces, motion, and problem-solving through engaging, tactile activities. Visitors can also journey into the natural world through Galápagos: One Health, an immersive exhibit that explores the deep connections between human, animal, and environmental health in one of the world’s most unique ecosystems.

Can’t attend on a Community Day? The Mayborn is committed to accessibility year-round through Museums for All and other admission discounts. Families who qualify for state food assistance can receive $1-per-person admission for up to two adults and all children in the household by presenting an EBT card upon arrival.

Whether visiting on a Community Day or another time of year, the Mayborn offers meaningful, affordable experiences for the entire community.
