Applications are open for the Bryce C. Brown Fellowship, a competitive fellowship supporting research
Applications are now open for the 2026 Bryce C. Brown Fellowship, a competitive summer fellowship supporting original research and innovative teaching that engages the Mayborn Museum’s natural and cultural history collections.
The Bryce C. Brown Fellowship is awarded annually to a Baylor University faculty member or graduate student whose work integrates research, learning, and professional development through meaningful use of the Museum’s holdings. Fellows are encouraged to explore new ways collections can inform scholarship, enrich curricula, and connect academic research with public audiences.
Fellowship projects may include incorporating Mayborn collections into course design or student research, conducting original scholarship rooted in the Museum’s holdings, developing public programs or presentations, or advancing teaching and research skills through cross-disciplinary collaboration. Fellows receive a $3,500 stipend for a 4–6 week summer residency at the Mayborn Museum, along with access to collections, associated data, and staff expertise in collections care and interpretation.
Past Bryce C. Brown Fellows have conducted impactful work across disciplines including geosciences, biology, history, religion, English, and environmental science—ranging from mammoth fossil reconstruction and isotope analysis to curriculum development and cultural history research.
Applications are due March 20, 2026. Applicants should submit a two-page project proposal, a current CV, and two letters of recommendation to Sabrina_Thomas@baylor.edu
