Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month at the Mayborn Museum with a day of music, performances, art, culture and community. Presented in partnership with the Hispanic Leaders’ Network, this free Community Day invites families to celebrate the creativity of local youth, learn from local artists and participate in the Mayborn’s annual Community Ofrenda.

Get ready to cheer on Waco’s littlest stars!

Pequeños Gigantes | Little Giants Talent Show is a joyful celebration of culture, creativity and the incredible talents of local youth. Young performers will take the stage to share their talents, from singing and dancing to music, cultural performances, comedy and more.

More than a talent show, Pequeños Gigantes gives children a welcoming space to build confidence, celebrate their heritage, express themselves and experience the excitement of being supported by their community.

Artist Talk: Ines Alvidres and Eric Linares

2–3 p.m.

Join local artists Ines Alvidres and Eric Linares for a conversation about art, culture and tradition.

Linares, creator of the Mayborn’s annual Community Ofrenda, will discuss the cultural significance of the Ofrenda and the traditions of remembrance that inspire its creation.

Alvidres will discuss Vida a Color, her accompanying Mexican folk art exhibition, and share the personal journey and experiences that inspired her paintings.

Together, the artists will offer visitors an opportunity to learn more about the stories, traditions and creative processes behind the Mayborn’s Hispanic Heritage Month programming.

Community Ofrenda

Opening Saturday, October 3

The Mayborn’s annual Community Ofrenda returns as part of Hispanic Heritage Day.

A Community Ofrenda is a shared altar created to honor and remember loved ones who have passed away. Throughout Día de los Muertos, the Mayborn’s Ofrenda will grow as community members contribute photographs and mementos of people they wish to remember.

You’re invited to add to the Ofrenda. Bring a photograph or small memento of a loved one to help create a shared space for remembrance, storytelling and connection.

As the Ofrenda grows, so does the collection of stories and memories that connect our community.

Explore the Museum

Community Day is also an opportunity to explore everything the Mayborn Museum has to offer. Admission is free all day, so bring the whole family and spend the day discovering hands-on exhibits, collections and experiences throughout the museum.
